      Social responsibility and being an aware citizen are powerful ways students can play an informed and effective part in society. This course doesn’t just cover citizenship at a local level, but examines what it means in a global context.

      You will learn how concepts like identity, democracy, power and justice are woven together and how to approach different world-views and opinions. The skills you learn on this course will put you in a strong positon for future employment as well as moving on to further education.

    • Citizenship course overview

      This A Level Citizenship course will give you an in-depth overview of contemporary citizenship issues enabling you to become an engaged and active global citizen. You will cover subjects like rights and responsibilities, power and justice as well as investigating global issues. You will also look at ways you can personally make a difference.

      Upon successful completion of the exams (as administered by AQA), you will have achieved an internationally recognised AQA A level Citizenship qualification.

      This course is divided into 4 units:

      AS Level

      Unit 1: CIST1 Identity, rights and responsibilities

      Written examination: 1 hour 15 minutes

      Unit 2: CIST2 Democracy, active citizenship and participation

      Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes

      A2 Level

      Unit 3: ECIST3 Power and justice

      Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes

      Unit 4: CIST4 Global issues and making a difference

      Written examination: 1 hours 30 minutes

      The AQA A Level Citizenship qualification is gained once all 4 exam papers are successfully completed. The first two exams make up the AS Level, the second two and practical assessment comprise the A2 Level and together they form the A Level. These exams are administered by the AQA and assessment centre details will be included with your course, as well as practice papers so that you are more than prepared for your assessments.

      In addition, there will be a number of tutor marked assessments (TMAs) to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the course materials, with the tutor sending comments to guide you through any areas of potential difficulty, as well as a range of self-assessments that are indicators that you understand the materials as you work through them.

      These are for your own information, and do not need to be shown to your course tutor.

      This course is currently available in paper-based format, therefore, you will receive the full course materials as well as a useful study guide.

      Your study guide is crammed full of tips and information to help you get the most out of the learning experience, student skills, techniques for writing your assessment answers and instructions for submitting your TMAs online for marking by your specialist tutor.

      Tutor support

      Our A Level courses come with tutor feedback and support by email for 24 months. They will mark your TMAs and provide valuable guidance through any trickier parts of the course whenever you need it. You will also receive a study guide to help you with all aspects of studying, essay writing and general student skills.

      If the course you have bought is delivered online you will receive your login details by 2pm the next working day.

      Paper Based

      If the course you have bought is paper based it will be despatched the next working day. You will receive a tracking email and a text with a 1 hour delivery slot.

      What do I do next?

      All the information you need to complete your course will be included in your study guide. Once you have your course be it online or paper based you will be good to go!
