This course doesn’t just give you a comprehensive understanding of the geographic environment but explores how people interact with it and the impact we make.

      A Level Geography is ideal preparation for studying related subjects at university level, as well as building on your foundations from GCSE.

    • Geography course overview

      A Level Geography covers contemporary geographical issues as well as physical and human geography, builds geographical skills and explores fieldwork. The course deals with environmental impact as well as management and sustainability. You will also build on your statistical skills and learn how to analyse and evaluate feedback.

      Upon successful completion of the exam and practical assessments (as administered by AQA), you will have achieved an internationally recognised AQA A Level Geography.

      Course outline

      This course is divided into 4 units:

      AS Level

      Unit 1: GEOG 1 Physical and human geography

      Written examination: 2 hours

      Unit 2: GEOG 2 Geographical skills

      Written examination: 1 hour

      A2 Level

      Unit 3: GEOG 3 Contemporary geographical issues

      Written examination: 2 hours 30 minutes

      Unit 4: GEOG 4A Geographic fieldwork investigation or GEOG 4B Geographical issue evaluation

      Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes

      Unit 1: Physical and human geography

      Module 1: Core geographical concepts

      Module 2: Contemporary or environmental impact

      Module 3: Management and sustainability

      Unit 2: Geographical skills

      Module 1: Investigative

      Module 2: Cartographic

      Module 3: Graphical

      Module 4: ICT and statistical skills

      Unit 3: Contemporary geographical issues

      Module 1: A issues based approach to geographical themes

      Unit 4A:

      Module 1: The opportunity to extend an area of the subject content into a more detailed fieldwork study

      Module 2: Candidate analyse and evaluate their fieldwork in response to the questions etc. Candidates will be assessed on fieldwork skills

      Unit 4B:

      Module 1: Candidates use their skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation

      Module 2: An advanced booklet is pre-released 2 months prior to the exam to facilitate candidates research into the area based on content

      The AQA A Level Geography qualification is gained once all 4 exam papers are successfully completed as well as your course work. The two exams make up the AS Level, the next two exams comprise the A2 Level and together they form the A Level. These exams are administered by the AQA and assessment centre details will be included with your course, as well as practice papers so that you are more than prepared for your assessments. You will need to contact your local examination centre to work through your coursework requirements.

      In addition, there will be a number of tutor marked assessments (TMAs) to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the course materials, with the tutor sending comments to guide you through any areas of potential difficulty, as well as a range of self-assessments that are indicators that you understand the materials as you work through them. These are for your own information, and do not need to be shown to your course tutor.

      This course is currently available in paper-based format, therefore, you will receive the full course materials as well as a useful study guide.

      Your study guide is crammed full of tips and information to help you get the most out of the learning experience, student skills, techniques for writing your assessment answers and instructions for submitting your TMAs online for marking by your specialist tutor.

      Tutor support

      Our A Level courses come with tutor feedback and support by email for 24 months. They will mark your TMAs and provide valuable guidance through any trickier parts of the course whenever you need it. You will also receive a study guide to help you with all aspects of studying, essay writing and general student skills.

      Paper Based

      If the course you have bought is paper based it will be despatched the next working day. You will receive a tracking email and a text with a 1 hour delivery slot.

      All the information you need to complete your course will be included in your study guide. Once you have your course be it online or paper based you will be good to go!
