      Accountancy skills are fundamental to running any business, whether working in your own business or within the finance department of a large corporation. Highly in demand and with good career prospects and high rewards, accountancy is a valuable skill to add to your CV or pathway to switch to a new career.

      You will become a MIP (an ATT Member in Practice) which will allow you to offer accountancy, taxation or related consultancy services to the public in the UK and Channel islands.

      With this course, you will also get a trial version of Sage Software and workbooks so you can complete all the PC assignments without the need of the full version.

      Course content

      This course is divided into 4 units:

      Unit 1: Basic costing

      Module 1: Understanding cost recording systems and how to use them to both extract and record data

      Module 2: Using spreadsheets to reflect actual and budgeted income and expenditure

      Module 3: Accounting via computing systems

      Module 4: Data entry at the start of an accounting period to set up both supplier and customer accounts

      Module 5: Customer and supplier transaction recording and processing

      Module 6: Bank and cash transactions, reconciling and recording

      Module 7: Using journals to enter transactions

      Module 8: Report production including day books, account activity, aged analysis, statement of remittance advice

      Unit 2: Work effectively in accounting and finance

      Module 1: Understanding the payroll function

      Module 2: Communicating via both the written word and numbers

      Module 3: Working as part of a team or individually

      Module 4: Preparing tasks and managing colleagues responsibilities

      Module 5: Understanding ethical values, principles and the importance of confidentiality

      Module 6: Understanding sustainable value

      Unit 3: Processing bookkeeping transactions

      Module 1: Understanding double entry bookkeeping and integrating the books of prime entry and describing coding functions

      Module 2: Understanding discounts and settlement, as well as the difference between trade and bulk discounts

      Module 3: Preparing and processing invoices for both suppliers and customers

      Module 4: Totalling and balancing a 3 column analysed cash book

      Module 5: Totalling, balancing and reconciling petty cash records

      Module 6: Processing ledger transactions and generating a trial balance

      Unit 4: Control accounts, journals and the bank system

      Module 1: Understanding control accounts and journals

      Module 2: Using and maintaining control accounts and the journal

      Module 3: Bank Statement reconciling with the cash book

      Module 4: Understanding the banking process and their services

      Module 5: Understanding the requirement of retention and storage relating to banking documents

      Assessment

      This course has no exams, instead there will be a number of tutor marked assessments (TMAs) to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the course materials, with the tutor sending comments to guide you through any areas of potential difficulty, as well as a range of self-assessments that are indicators that you understand the materials as you work through them.

      These are for your own information and do not need to be shown to your course tutor.

      Method of study

      Paper based pack

      We will send a study pack to you by courier, including your course materials and a study guide to help you through the student process.

      However, tutor marked assessments are only accepted online, rather than by post.

      Tutor support

      Our ATT courses come with tutor feedback and support by email for 24 months. They will mark your TMAs and provide valuable guidance through any trickier parts of the course whenever you need it. You will also receive a study guide to help you with all aspects of studying, essay writing and general student skills.

      How do I get my course?

      Online

      If the course you have bought is delivered online you will receive your login details by 2pm the next working day.

      Paper Based

      If the course you have bought is paper based it will be despatched the next working day. You will receive a tracking email and a text with a 1 hour delivery slot.

      What do I do next?

      All the information you need to complete your course will be included in your study guide. Once you have your course be it online or paper based you will be good to go!
